REVIEW #2:
by Oh! Hailey from the message boards

“We got to Vancouver and hung out around the venue, got starbucks and then waited to go in for soundcheck. We went in at about 2 and saw Jerome and Chad and gave them a starbucks card I had gotten them. Then we counted a few shirts for the merch guy. We sat around for about 2 hours inside the venue until soundcheck where I ran into Phil, who Tim had brought in to watch. We watched soundcheck and they practiced live and love and why for a long time again. Jon skateboarded around the venue for a while, and Andy was filming it. We went up and got into the front before the doors opened and waited in the really pushy crowd for an hour and 20 min. At one point the whole crowd broke into “Oh Canada” and belated out the whole thing while the security guards stood up front and saluted. It was pretty hilarious.”

“The show was one of the better ones, despite the crowd surfers and being nearly crushed when Jon asked the guy behind me to come up on stage, which Drew and Jon both commented on later. They played: oh! gravity, politicians, meant to live, dirty second hands, 4:12, life and love and why, this is your life, shadow proves the sunshine, gone, amateur lovers, canadian dream (haha), faust, midas, and myself, learning to breathe, awakening, stars, we are one tonight, 24, and dare you to move. Life and Love and Why was definitely my favorite of the night, it was awesome to hear something that old that wasn’t Chem 6A. “Canadian Dream” sounded great also. I was also glad they played 24 because they didn’t at the other shows I was at this tour.”

“Afterwards I went backstage and talked to the guys. Tim left for Seattle right before I got there, so I missed talking to him. I talked to Drew and his wife for a while, and he told me he saw me get crushed by cowbell guy and was worried about me until he saw I was okay. He also was joking about how the guy had no rhythm and said something about how he just didn’t understand how someone couldn’t clap on a beat, and my mom pointed at me and he goes “oh….uh, no offense? None taken…right?” I got a picture with him in his “boyband” pose, and when he had to leave he grabbed my hand and said “it’s been a pleasure, hailey.” I talked to Chad for a little bit about the shows and we got a thumb wrestling picture. Jerome came over and gave us both hugs and told us he would miss us, and when I asked for a picture he was like “This is your last night, we need to make it GOOD.” So, we looked around and goes “I’ve got it. Stay here” and then walked over and got a chair, set it down and told me to sit, and then grabbed a cup and plate, put a towel over his arm and pretended to serve me. Chad grabbed a towel, jumped in an said “I’ll shine her shoes!” Definitely one of my favorite pictures. After saying hi to Andy and talking Aaron from Copeland for a while who told us he’d miss seeing our faces in the front row. After I talked to everyone in there, I left to go outside and find Jon. I walked out and he was walking towards me and so we started talking for little bit and then everyone else came out and he decided to do an aftershow inside the venue, all sitting in a circle on the floor. He played “War in My Blood” and then asked what everyone wanted to hear, and I asked if he would play “Revenge” and so he did. Then he played “Betrayal”, “Only Hope”, “Chem 6A” and an incredible new song called “Lord, Save Me From Myself.” We then all went outside and got pictures with him and thanked him for an amazing weekend.”

Hey, this concert was amazing. Unfortunately I wasn’t at the front, but I was surely belting out ‘Oh Canada’ with all my heart :P
(response to review) I also loved that they played 24. Chem 6A is overplayed (or so I hear). I have all the Switchfoot albums, and thanks to this [wonderful] site, I have the bootleg from the Vancouver concert as well :)
